Thursday 27 November 2025 Y6 - Keeping Things Current Year 6 have started their new afternoon topic for science all about electricity. It's a very exciting, practical unit in which pupils design circuits made of multiple components such as switches, buzzers, lightbulbs, motors and batteries. They learn how to draw the universally recognised symbols for these components, and then predict whether or not the circuit will work. Then, they work together to put it to the test with real parts! They repeat this sequence a few times over the lessons, each step going more in depth and complex. Well done, Year 6!

Friday 21 November 2025 Dissection and Reflection We have been having a cracking time in our ‘Living Things' science topic. As part of the KS2 curriculum the children are learning to identify and describe the functions of different parts of flowering plants and to understand how plants grow and reproduce. On Wednesday they researched and created a labelled diagram of a flowering plant. They studied each feature closely and explained its job. For example the petals attract insects for pollination and the ovaries produce seeds that will one day become new plants. The children were very relieved to learn that plants do all this hard work without needing a packed lunch.

Friday 21 November 2025 Cactus painting This week the children really took their time painting their cactus in bright, vibrant colours reminiscent of Mexico, the country which has inspired their Art this term. The children used primary colours to create secondary colours then used these colours to make their piece really stand out! There was lots of discussion about how much of one colour to put with another in order to get the shade they wanted. In the background I played Mexican music which made for an upbeat and jovial painting session.
