Hermione Granger teaches Maths!📚✨
Today has been a wonderfully exciting day in Year 1 as we celebrated World Book Day together! The classroom was full of brilliant costumes, cosy pyjamas, and some very stylish outfits!
We had so many amazing characters visit our classroom today. Among them were Paddington, Mary Poppins, The Highway Rat, Harry Potter, lots of magical fairies, Bluey, and many more wonderful book characters. I even dressed up as Hermione Granger!
Even though we were dressed in our cool clothes, we still worked very hard in our learning. In maths, we have been learning about place value within 50, and today we practised partitioning numbers into tens and ones. We used Dienes help us see and build the numbers practically, which really helped bring our learning to life.
This afternoon was extra special because we had a visit from a real poet, Alex Wharton, who led a creative workshop for us. We listened to his brilliant stories, poems, and songs that made us laugh a lot. Some of our favourites were about toxic slugs and even horses using his toilet-which we thought was absolutely hilarious!
It has been such a fun-filled day of books, creativity, and learning. World Book Day reminded us how magical stories can be and how much joy reading can bring. We can’t wait to keep exploring new books and characters together in Year 1!
