History Club Adventures This Half Term
We've had such a brilliant time in History Club this half term, exploring fascinating periods from our local area all the way back to ancient civilisations!
Discovering Weymouth's Past
We kicked off by diving into some fascinating facts about Weymouth's history. Our pupils were amazed to learn about the stories right on our doorstep, connecting them to the place they call home.
Journey to Ancient Egypt
Next, we travelled back thousands of years to Ancient Egypt, where the children learned to write like an Egyptian! They had great fun mastering hieroglyphics and discovering how people communicated in this incredible ancient civilisation.
Roman Britain and Mosaics
During our Roman Britain session the children explored the art of mosaics and learned about how the Romans used these intricate designs to decorate their homes and public buildings. It was wonderful to see their artistic skills shine through!
Anglo-Saxon Jewellery
To round off the term, we stepped into the world of the Anglo-Saxons and made our own brooches. The children showed fantastic creativity and attention to detail as they designed and crafted these beautiful pieces, just like Anglo-Saxon craftspeople would have done over a thousand years ago.
History Club has been such a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to develop their understanding of the past whilst having fun and being creative. We can't wait to see what historical adventures await us next term!
