From Space to Species: Our New Science Adventure

After the magic and wonder of our last science topic, when we set off on an exciting mission across space, our next adventure brings us much closer to home. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be exploring the fascinating world of living things and their habitats.

We began by meeting MRS GREN, a wise and wonderful lady who helps us remember the seven life processes that all living things share — Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduction, Excretion and Nutrition. These special processes help us understand the difference between living and non-living things.

Next, we turned our attention to some famous faces in natural science. The children loved learning about the amazing work of Sir David Attenborough, Jane Goodall, Steve Backshall, Chris Packham and Charles Darwin. These inspiring naturalists have made groundbreaking discoveries, raised awareness about our planet and its wildlife, and changed the way we think about animals and the environment.

The children then worked in pairs to choose one of these pioneers and create an information page all about why they are so famous. Every group produced incredible work they can be truly proud of, filled with facts, colour and creativity.

We can’t wait to display their fantastic projects in our classroom for everyone to see!
